A Closer Look at my Feedback

To help my students' performance of dental charting in their dentistry course, I created an assignment that focuses on retrieval of foundational tooth anatomy and structure. I believe that having knowledge of normal anatomy and function will benefit their overall ability to understand content that results in changes to these normals. In a quest to find volunteers to test my assignment I reached out to current students and those who took the dentistry course last spring. Four students, three current and one past, submitted honest feedback after viewing or completing the assignment.

I asked for feedback via written or recorded response and for images of the assignment if they completed it. The feedback provided can be viewed in the video below, or by clicking here.

Overall, the students enjoyed the assignment and felt that it was a good review. Students provided suggestions that would clear up any questions they had about the assignment as well as when this assignment should be implemented during the course. While the feedback was beneficial, I wonder if the assignment will aid in performance of dental charting and help identify and understand dental abnormalities because it provided review of basic anatomy. This is ultimately the goal of this assignment and feedback that I did not receive.
